Arafo
Situated in the northeastern part of the island of Tenerife, Arafo is a municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The city is also a suburb of Santa Cruz city. Figures taken in 2005, shows the population of Arafo as being 5,276, with its density as 155 square kilometers and an area of 33.92 square kilometers. Arafo is linked with the old highway linking Abona and Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the TF1 Motorway. The motorway encircles the eastern and southern regions of the island and has an interchange near Arafo to the southeast.

Business, tourism, and limited agriculture are the principle factors of Arafo's economy. The urban area and some farmlands dominate the coastline, whilst the majority of farmlands are situated in the valley areas. Mountains, grasslands, and forests lie to the west.

Much of this borough, particularly the highland area, is classified as a Nature Park, along with the area of the Güimar Valley and both sides of the dorsal mountain range. The Caldera de Pedro Gil with the Las Arenas or Arafo volcanoes are excellent examples of erosive cauldrons with an historic volcano inside.

The ravines which lead down from the ridge hold enclaves of great natural significance. One example of this is the Añavingo ravine, which holds outstanding endemic species.
