La Guancha
The Guancha is situated in the north of Tenerife and borders on the municipalities of San Juan de la Rambla to the east, Icod of the Vinos to the west and La Orotava to the south. It covers an area of about 21.9 square kilometers in the shape of a thin rectangle from the sea up to the hillsides of Teide. The population as of 2004 was 5,372.
The principal economic activities of the area is geared around tourism, mainly around Puerto de la Cruz and agriculture. The agriculture is still practiced with many local farms and cottage industries by the local inhabitants.
