Ayuntamiento de Adeje

Recently worked with Film Canary Islands on their project for Ayuntamiento Adeje. This was a tourist video to promote the area of Adeje as a holiday destination. We started filming back in October 2012 and finished in December. An additional shoot saw filming Siam Park on the ground and from the air.

I was commissioned to provide all the photographic images to be used in their printed and online publicity. I worked alongside the Director of Photography, Andy McLeod of Film Canary Islands as filming took place at the various locations chosen in the Adeje area. I produced a number of timelapse sequences featured in the final film using my Canon 5D II and a GoPro.

For the Siam Park shoot, a small team assembled to shoot various rides within the park with the mighty Red camera, a radio multicopter from Multicopter Canarias and aerial filming with the helicopter of Dream Canarias.

The team put together some fabulous footage ending in two videos. I put together a short 'Making of...' Video showing the team at work on the Siam Park shoot as well as the main project last year.

Milky Way, Izaña

Last night, I drove up to Izaña and the observatories for an astro timelapse. I got there when it was already dark so getting to the final location wasn't easy. With a pack on your back containing three cameras and other pieces of equipment, plus two tripods and a plastic bag containing food and drink, walking over the scrubland is not easy. There was no moon and it was pitch black and a torch doesn't allow you to plot your track very far ahead.

I found a nice clearing though and it was quite near to the observatory towers. Even though they are white, I couldn't see them with the naked eye until practically on top of them.

I set up a three camera shoot. The first pointing west with the observatories and Mount Teide in view. This captured the interesting part of the milky way traversing the sky which takes in the constellations Aguila, Scutum and The Pipe near the main constellation of Sagittarius. The second camera pointed east. This captured the rising of Jupiter in Taurus together with Perseus and The Pleiades. The third camera just pointed up wards into the middle section of the milky way near Cassiopeia.

I had preset the cameras before leaving home. I had done timelapses where I was so excited to see the billions of stars so clearly, that I have forgotten to select the right settings. That is soul destroying after waiting four hours in the dark and cold. So I always check the cameras are set correctly before leaving home first. I do a final check when they are ready to start clicking away.

To help check the focussing, I have an iKan VK7 field monitor. I hook this up to the canon 5D and 7D and fire off some test shots to fine tune the focus and framing of the shot. Working with a bigger screen makes it easy to visualise how the stars will cross the sky and the framing of the shot. Once the intervalometers are programmed, I set them off and running. I constantly listen out for the clicks to make sure everything is working properly. I use new batteries in the intervalometers as there is nothing worse than the clicking stopping half way through because the batteries are flat.

All there was to do after that was wait. It's a good time to check out and learn more star patterns with an App I have on the iPad called Star Walk.

What was nice in the set up was one of the observatory towers had a kitchen light on, this provided nice low ambient light without it blowing out the shot. It's always better shooting an astro timelapse when you're in the middle of nowhere and away from the roads. There's nothing more annoying than car headlamps lighting up the scene causing huge flickering in the final film.

Beach Timelapse

Went to Playa de Pelada near El Medano. A very hot day but with continuous sunshine which is great for timelapsing as the final film
won't flicker between dark and light.

The subject was the natural ripple effect caused by the wind on the sunddunes. A five hour shoot was done taking one photo every minute with the Canon 5D II and Macro 180mm lens. The effect was a nice shadow movement from the sand ripple and also a twig. It's shadow seems to crawl across the sand like a snake.

Very hot work, but rewarding. I will include this clip in my final timelapse film.

Octocopter

We filmed one of the test flights of an Octocopter. This is a radio controlled helicopter capable of lifting an HD video camera for aerial shooting sequences that otherwise wouldn't be possible.

The Octocopter can replace and even better the need of a real helicopter reducing production costs and achieving shots not possible by conventional means.

It can fly indoors in a shopping mall for example or even a villa should you wish to promote your property for sale this way.

The platform is very stable. This is achieved with a multi axis stabilising gimbal with the camera being operated by a production cameraman linked up to another radio controlled unit.

Certain types of HD video cameras have their own built-in image stabiliser which is another way to provide shake free sequences.

It can obviously hover as well as making high speed runs. The onboard batteries can provide six or seven minutes shooting time and these are easily changed, thus avoiding unecesssary production delays.

San Juan Festival

We went to El Medano in the outh of Tenerife on 24th June for the San Juan celebrations. Lots of little bonfires are made to celebrate the longest day. People have a great time socialising with music and BBQ's. We were hoping to film the fire eaters and dancers but somehow managed to miss them. However, some of the braver party people managed to brave the leap over their fires.
We filmed the timelapse with a Canon 5DII, 24-70mm f2.8 lens on a sturdy tripod and linked to a Bramper.

Coopertires Shoot

On the 20th of June we met up with Cititravel who commissioned us to do a shoot for Coopertires.

The shoot took place at the fabulous Villa Cortes Hotel in Las Americas. the new style tires were fitted to a VW Touareg 4x4 Jeep and situated on the steps in front of the main doors to the hotel.

The client wanted a promotional banner in the shot. To accommodate this, we used out Canon 7D with the 10-22mm with other shots of the tyres and car taken with the Canon 5D II with 24-70mm f2.8. Close up shots were also taken of the tread and brand names on the tyres. A group shot was aso taken with the staff on the steps leading up to the car.

After this was complete, we drove to the Las Americas Golf Course. The blue sky and green grass provided a colourful backdrop for this part of the shoot. We also shot the car in front of huge banks of pink and red flowers to provide a blaze of colour.

To get a dramtic perspective of the wheel and car, we set the camera up on the ground against the front wheel and looking up and towards the back of the car. This gave a powerful distorted emphasis to the tyre whilst capturing the solid contruction of the car.

Another group shot was taken before the Coopertires team set off for their round of golf. By this time, the clouds had come over, so we managed to complete the shoot just in the nick of time.

Las Teresitas Shoot

On Tuesday 15 May, I was asked by FilmCanaryIslands to join them on their film shoot taking place at Las Teresitas beach in Santa Cruz. They were filming an episode of a British TV reality show and needed me as the 'Data Wrangler.

It was a blisteringly hot day with temperatures in the high eighties. I arrived there at 6.30am with the light just starting to change as dawn approached. There were a lot of trucks, vans and crew assembled already. There was a hive of activity as all sorts of equipment was set up and tested. The catering crew was in full flight as people took cups of coffee and snacks to start their day. It was a large crew which included everyone from the cameramen to security.

Various large reflectors were set up on the beach together with tents for viewing the scenes and helping people keep out of the sun. Two Red Epic cameras were being used. One was tripod and shoulder mounted, the other was a Steadycam.

My 'office' was in the back of a van which was a welcome relief form the hot sun. During the day, the disks from both cameras were given to me and the files were transferred to three back-up disks via the laptop. The scenes were 'scrubbed through' to make sure the footage was fine with no glitches or any other problems. Once all that was done, the disks were returned to the cameras ready for the next scene. This continued throughout the day.

The shoot lasted all day and finished about half seven. We returned to the Mencey hotel to drop some equipment off and retired to a tapas bar across the road for a well earned drink and snacks.

Wedding of Heather and Glenn

We had the fortune to be able to video the wedding of heather and Glenn at the hotel Bahia del Duque on the 10 May. An American couple living and working in the UK, they decided to marry in Tenerife in a private ceremony which we streamed live over the Internet so family and friends in the States could witness the occasion.

The weather did not disappoint as it was a sweltering day. The live feed over the Internet was filmed with a webcam linked to a laptop, patched through to the hotel's broadband. This left us free to video the ceremony with the Canon 5D II using a 24-70mm, f2.8 lens on a fluid head tripod and a Glidecam 4000HD, handheld (no vest).

We followed the bride in her preparations at the beauty salon having her hair and make-up done. This took about two hours, but Heather allowed us full access during her preparations. Meanwhile, Glenn was getting ready in their room, so we joined him for that time. Needless to say it didn't take him two hours, as he said, "it's one of the great things being a guy".

Heather joined us in their beautiful suite. Their photographer, Phil Crean, joined us to take informal photos and we took more videos of their preparations for the big moment. Again, the couple were very helpful to make sure we captured the shots we wanted. On request, they repeated things so we could cover them from different camera angles.

With Glenn already having departed to take his position at the pergola, we followed Heather who looked stunning in her long white dress. It glistened in the sunshine as she made her way through the hotel grounds with the hotel residents looking on.

The couple met up at the end of the red carpet and sipped a glass of champagne. It was four o'clock. They slowly walked down the red carpet which was adorned with flower petals whilst a musician played a processional piece on his Spanish guitar.

We filmed the ceremony from all different angles being careful not to stand in front of the webcam situated in the corner. Our Rode microphone was being used to relay the sound for the Internet feed. This meant that any sound we were to use for the final video, would come from the camera in-built microphone, which was not ideal. After half an hour, the couple were man and wife and more champagne was sipped to mark their union. The heat and sun continued to beat down and as cameraman, I felt rather lightheaded. So, the Glenn, heather, Phil, Ali his assistant and I, walked down to a local courtyard on the promenade of Fanabe beach for a sit down and refreshments. It was during this time that we asked questions about how they met so we could weave this into the final video. The nachos, chilli and drinks were a welcome relief to the work put in so far.

For the after the wedding shoot, we walked to the rocks overlooking the beach. The sky was clear and blue with the heat in the eighties. Phil and I took it in turns to direct the couple who were only to happy to help us capture the moments we wanted. After half an hour, the shoot was complete and we made our way back to the hotel for a well earned rest and more refreshments.

Over the next few days, the video was put together using the footage we had shot plus some of the photos taken by Phil. Glenn and Heather had provided us with a couple of their favourite songs to include as well. All in all due to the enthusiasm of Glenn and Heather to help us in our work, we had a fabulous day and were able to record their special day as we wanted. It was a real pleasure shooting their wedding and we wish them every happiness in the life together.

Sun eclipse with Radar Dome

Yesterday, Friday 6th April, we went to the airport (Reina Sofia) for the sunrise. The aim is to shoot a timelapse of the sun rising behind the radar dome at the western side of the airport.

We had visited the location the day before to mark the point the camera had to be for the sun to appear just to the left of the dome. We recorded the camera settings but our attempted timelpase was ruined by a lot of cloud.

Today, Saturday 7th, we returned to the same spot knowing it would be the exact point needed as the sun would rise a little further to the left. The camera was set up again on the Manfrotto tripod with the same lens and the Little Bramper.

The shoot was started at 7.30 with the sun due to rise over the horizon at 7.49. We find using the iPad app Skywalk helps us enormously to plan these types of shoots.

The Bramper was set to an interval of 8000 milliseconds, a bulb duration of 4000 ms, ISO 100 and f18. a Lee 3 stop (calibrated at 2.97) ND filter was on hand in case we needed to extend the bramping. In the end we didn't use it.

We also had another camera set up facing the other direction for the moon which was due to set 8.03 with 93% showing. An intervalometer was attached set at taking a shot every 5 seconds. The camera was set on manual, ISO 200, f8 and shutter speed of 1/200th. This was set running but the cloud soon obscured the scene, so very little timelapse was taken.

The 5D was also running. Just at the point where the sun started to appear, a bank of cloud had rolled in from the south and totally blocked out the area the sun was due to run into. So the effect we wanted was lost.

We intend to try again tomorrow. The new position has been marked which is sixteen yards to the right to compensate the sun shift to the left.

Otherwise, everything else was set up for shooting the sun to be eclipsed by the radar dome. Test shoots on the previous days has shown the sun to be the exact same size as the radar dome. All we need now is no clouds we is going to be difficult with the weather as unstable as it is at the moment. We shall have to keep trying until we get the clear air we need to achieve the shot wanted. This will mean consecutive moves towards Los Abrigos. Eventually the hills to the left of the airport will move into shot behind the dome as the shoot angle changes. So we need to get the shot in the next few days.

Wedding Video Shoot

We did our first wedding video shoot in conjunction with myperfectwedding.eu on Saturday 3rd March. Held at the Abama Hotel Beach Club, it was a perfect setting for this small ceremony. It was attended by around twenty guests.

The shoot started at 2pm although the actual ceremony didn't start until 4pm and lasted until 7pm. The weather was superb with the sun shining brightly. This necessitated a polarising filter and a 3 stop ND filter on the Canon 5D. This allowed us to shoot at a low f number to achieve a nice shallow depth of field when required.

We used a shoulder mounted camera rig to reduce the ever present shaking and this helped to reduce the effects quite considerably. However, after a few hours shooting, the weight started to take its toll on the muscles.

We have another beach wedding shoot on the 15th March. This time we have obtained the services of a Steadycam rig courtesy of Film!CanaryIslands. This will aid the shooting process and the wear and tear on the arms and shoulders during the day.

We are taking along a Canon 7D hooked up to the 70-200mm IS lens for close up and personal shots, again with the necessary filters and a Manfrotto 701 fluid head tripod.

Cactus & Pine Cone Timelapse

Today we shot two timelapse videos. The weather was perfect with clear skies, no clouds therefore uninterrupted sunshine and most importantly, very little wind.

Our subjects today were a pine cone and a cactus. The latter had long spines which we thought would resemble a sundial if shot in macro. So we set up our 7D with the Canon 180mm lens.

One side of the cactus leaf was stripped of its spines so it would lie flat and therefore have less tendency to move if there was a sudden gust of wind. The camera was mounted onto the tripod and set low to the ground.

The intervalometer was set to taking one shot every minute over a four hour time period. We selected an f13 aperture to achieve a reasonable depth of field due to the long spines, some of which pointed into the camera.

The pine cone was set in an upright position and we set it into a slight hole so that it too wouldn't move if there was a gust of wind. It was surrounded by dead dry grass and gravel. Obviously the grass swayed with the wind as we couldn't do anything about that, but it gave a nice frame of movement to the stationary cone. It was also shot over a four hour time period set at a minute interval on the Canon 5D II with the f2.8 24-70mm.

The sequences were shot using RAW as we wanted to have some control when processing the film.

Having processed the frames in Photoshop, they were exported as jpg's and saved to a new folder. Then using Quicktime Pro, we batch processed them into a QuickTime movie set at 24 frames per second. As the sequence was shot at one frame a minute over four hours, we ended up with a 10second sequence.

These were then imported into Adobe Premier. We added the deflicker filter in case there were some slight fluctuation of light levels during the four hours. These two sequences were then added to a final film and set to music as part of a longer film sequence.

Still Photography - Bid Time Return directed by Jon Sorensen

Bid Time Return
“BID TIME RETURN tells the story of the last family at the very end of time. Barbara and Ivan have a daughter, Tikki, who has Progeria, a rare disease in children which advances and accelerates the aging process. The entire population of the Earth has already evacuated through mysterious time doors. Time is reversing permanently on the planet. Everything will end. All memory will be lost. Nothing will remain. There is one possible last portal to open. Only one person can go through. Barbara and Ivan may have to make the ultimate sacrifice by saying goodbye to their daughter forever and send her through the time portal alone, praying there is a life and a new hope for her on the mysterious other side”. – Jon Sorensen, Writer and Director

The location on the first day of filming was Tajao, a small fishing village about twenty minutes from Tenerife south airport. It was incredibly windy, the sea was rough but it added to the atmosphere of the film. With the crew and actors assembled, the cameras were set up shooting in two locations.

We started taking photos whilst everyone went about their work under the direction of Jon Sorensen and Director of Photography, Andy McLeod. Carla Sanchez ‘Barbara’, Gadi Cimand ‘Ivan’ were portraying mum and dad to their daughter, Tikki, a special child with Progeria, played by Erin Alonso. Although we didn’t have a sound blimp for the cameras, we were able to reel off shots without disturbing the actors or the takes.

For the second day, we gathered in Teide National Parque in a car park in the area known as Lavas Negras. This is a straight road through the lava field which looks visually stunning.
Although we were there to take the stills, we also helped out setting things up when we could. The one thing we noticed straight away was the teamwork of Film!CanaryIslands and the special relationship with the director, Jon.

We took some marvellous photos during the scene where Ivan sits in the middle of the road to record messages to Tikki. Getting the camera low down on to the road, we were able to shoot an angle to get close in and personal to Gadi. To make the scenes possible, FIlmCanaryIslands crew members were stationed at either end of the road to stop traffic during the takes. Teide National Parque is an atmospheric setting where the temperatures drop off quickly as the sun goes down. Poor Gadi was in shorts, T-shirt and bare feet during much of the filming! His lemon grass tea made on his little calor gas stove for the scene, kept him going though!

Day three saw us Minas de San Jose in a car park viewing point. It is surrounded by Planet Mars landscape with sweeping hills interspersed with jagged rock formations. One such formation was chosen as the setting for the ‘portal’ which transported Tikki to her new time.
Various scenes were shot here using the Red camera, some with the huge 500mm lens and others in close up.

As usual, there was a lot of activity and we kept taking photos the whole time to record each important moment. Scenes included the moment that Barbara and Ivan had to let Tikki go through the time portal, a moment which brought about real tears.

A van was used where the camera is mounted on a hydraulic vertical pole which could extend to 100 feet. Again the traffic was stopped while the scene was shot. The camera van followed the family car driven by Ivan. The remotely operated camera captured a viewpoint as if taken from a helicopter. A visually and dramatic look as the car meandered through the landscape.

On Day four, we were back at the same location. We travelled in the van to take shots of the camera in action.

The location was then changed back to Lavas Negras to shoot various scenes including Gadi recording more messages to Tikki. Again we worked till night fall where the temperatures dropped again. All the time we were taking photos of the crew and actors working. Finally, all the scenes were complete. We had all our photos and were anxious to start editing them.

From the stills, we made a ‘Making of Bid Time Return’ which can be seen on Facebook on this link http://www.facebook.com/v/10150385051794801 along with the rest of the photos taken during the filming.

Boeing shoot at the Abama Hotel

We were contacted by Andy Mcleod, Director of Photography from Film!CanaryIslands to take photos and video for their project commissioned by Boeing of Seattle.

The Boeing company was sending 100 of their staff and important customers to enjoy some of the delights Tenerife has to offer. The Abama Hotel was the central venue for all concerned and provided an excellent base to hold their meetings and functions.

They had a busy schedule and the perfect weather set the scene for an enjoyable and successful stay.

Some of the group donned their suncream and hats for various excursions. These included deep sea fishing, whale and dolphin watching aboard a catamaran, open top jeep tours to Teide, cooking with a top chef in the hotel and two days of golfing competitions which included golf lessons on the driving range.

The first evening event was a cocktail reception and dinner held on the beach adjoining the Abama Hotel with La Gomera as a perfect backdrop with a setting sun. A laser show provided an interlude to the proceedings. We recorded the evening with various photos of the assembly enjoying the facilities and service provided by the hotel. A 'lighting studio' was set up on the beach for those people who wanted a casual but formal photo of themselves.

The following evening saw them gathered for another cocktail party and dinner which was held indoors, this time in, one of the many fabulous restaurants. They took this opportunity to present various awards and special presentations.

The final day saw us taking video footage of the golf instructors at work on the driving range helping golfers to improve their game as well as introducing the non-golfers to the game.

We then jumped in our buggy and followed the players on their rounds. We took photos of them enjoying the game and the splendid scenery.

During the last evening and the dinner, entertainment was provided with a special visit of all the Gala Queen winners of the Carnaval held in February. The fabulous costumes and music got the evening off to a blaze of colour and music. This event was again held outside and a stage had been prepared for the presentation of awards to the winners of the competitions.

We had taken a large number of photos during the three days of events and excursions. The Boeing management team had asked for a presentation video to be made. This was put together by Andy McLeod and everyone was treated to a great presentation of the images to music on the large screen provided as a backdrop to the stage.

The evening was rounded off with a spectacular firework display in a clear sky and a crescent moon and stars.

Tiesto Concert Photos

After the successful concerts of Elton John, Rod Stewart, Simply Red, Kenny G and Michael Bolton which catered for a 'mature' audience, it was time for the younger set to enjoy themselves. They certainly did that. Dressed for the
beach, or it could be said 'undressed' for the beach, the crowd had a ball in the sunshine.

Another successful event organised by Sun Live, it all started at four in the afternoon. When we got there at about half five, the crowd were going for it while some preferred to sit it out with a drink in the shade. A foam party machine was started up and soon attracted the party goers to add to the fun.

There was an impressive line-up all playing at various 'stages' during the whole event timetable. All tastes of music were catered for to ensure a successful concert.

The line-up included Maick Rodriguez, DA Souza, Juan Fierro, Tan FX, Trippcore, Pablo Fierro, DJ Dario, Chola, Jonay, Alex Kentucky, Roberto Palmero, Rayco Santos, Pablo, Amador.

The main stars of the show were Jacobo Padilla, Miss Nine and of course Tiesto.

As official photographers we were allowed backstage and managed to meet Miss Nine for a few photos. What a delight! Kristin Schrot, better known as Miss Nine, was born in 1984 in Germany. She began her career as a model at the age 16. Wanting more, her passion for music led Kristin to Amsterdam, where she called herself Miss Nine and began her career in electronic music. She is also a professional model with the agency Elite Models.

We were allowed on to the stage whilst Jacobo Padilla performed. By this time, the numbers were amassing as the sun stated to get lower. The sound and rhythm were gradually getting into motion.

Miss Nine came onto stage to a rapturous welcome. Again we were allowed the privilege of joining her on stage to get some close up shots of her in action. She really got the crowd pumping as the sun faded behind the Golf Costa Adeje
houses.

Tiesto came on to the stage to a roar just as load as the music. Michiel Verwest known as Tiësto was born in Breda, Netherlands in 1969 and was voted as the best DJ in the world by Mixmag magazine this year 2011.

Although we weren't allowed onto the stage this time, we were given access to the front of it between the stage and the front line of the crowd. By this time the crowd were bumping and jumping. They were taking photos themselves and
loved having their photos taken by us. Getting decent shots of Tiesto was difficult being so close in and the deck set up in front of him, but the group of dance performers on stage made up for it.

All in all, a great concert which sets the bar for more concerts catering for the youth market. Let's hope with the success of this event, that other stars will soon follow to grace Tenerife with their music.

Michael Bolton Kenny G Concert

Once again, Sun Live Festival held a great concert featuring Michael Bolton and Kenny G. It was their fourth production introducing the artists to their first time in Tenerife. Last night followed the successes of Elton John, Rod Stewart and Simply Red.

The arena filled with around 4,500 people both residents and tourists alike. Kenny G entered the hearts of the Canarian contingent as he did his best to introduce himself, his band and his music in his rapidly leant Spanish. The crowd was appreciative of his effort and it felt like he made a lot of new fans in the process.

Instead of appearing stage left, the spotlight hit him standing amongst the crowd which caught everyone by surprise. He joined the stage making his way past us in the press area and delighted the crowd with his brand of alto sax melodies finishing with his rendition of the theme from the film Titanic.

Michael Bolton came on stage and sang a variety of his songs together with old favourites from other artists. The fans especially loved his ‘Nessun Dorma’ which was dedicated to his friend Pavarotti.

At one point, he was joined by Kenny G to treat the fans to a song whilst again standing amongst the crowd.

A fabulous evening and yet another success for Tenerife as a world stage for the music concert circuit.

Rode Microphone

We took delivery of a Rode Microphone which we are using with the Canon 7D. We went to Reina Sofia airport yesterday to take videos.
The sun and planes were out and about and we took some nice footage. The sound was very good. There was a little wind noise, but it was minimal.
We are awaiting the 'Deadcat' microphone cover to see if that eliminates what little wind rush there is on the recordings.

The runners are out again in force for the 15th Tenerife Half Marathon being held in Las Galletas this Sunday 3rd April. The runners set off at 9am and we hope to be there to shoot the action. This is always a well attended event both with competitors and spectators alike. It looks as though the sun will be making an appearance as well. I'm sure the runners will be delighted with that!

Full Moon Rising

We are going to Tenerife south airport, Reina Sofia, to take photos of the rising of the full moon. It is said the moon will take on the appearance of 14% bigger size and some 30% brighter. It is at its closest to the earth for some 18 years and will appear bigger nearer the horizon at moonrise.
We hope to capture this event together with planes taking off and landing at the time. Moonrise will be around 19:18. There are a number of flights around that time. Hopefully Montagna Roja will also feature as well.

Canon EOS 7D

We are please to announce the arrival of our new camera to the fleet.
it's the Canon 7D. A fabulous camera at 18M pixels, 8 frames a
second also with full HD video. We are using it for sports shots of the kite
and windsurfers for example.
The Tenerife Champions Cup is here in October, so it's a great chance
to put it through its paces as it captures the young ladies diving
about as they hit the sand! Combining this with the 70 - 200mm IS, we
effectively get a max of 320mm with the crop factor of 1.6.
We are eager to try it with the 180 macro as the Al Servo can be set
for constant focus. This will be particularly useful for tracking the
takeoff of say a butterfly.
Hot on the heels of the camera and eagerly awaited is our 10 - 22mm
lens. We hope this will be with us within two weeks. This will give
us the freedom of shooting in tight spaces as well as sweeping
landscape shots. It also accentuates objects in the immediate
foreground thus adding a nice perspective to images.

Torviscas

On a beautiful sunny blue sky day, we decided to tour Torviscas and take photos of the surrounding area. We started from Torviscas exit 31 and then meandered our way up the hillside just following the road. Eventually we made it as far as we could by car to Roque del Conde. The views are fabulous and La Gomera was visible in the distance. We could see Palm Mar, Los Cristianos, Puerto Colon, San Eugenio, Fañabe and La Caleta. The next thing to do is capture these scenes and views at night. The photo is of a derelict building on the ridge separating the Roque del Conde development and the banana plantation to the south. It’s a tricky walk to get there, you have to watch every step, but the views are worth it. On Google Earth, the coordinates are 28º05’32.53”N 16º42’28.14”W. Tap that in and you’ll be close.

We have launched a new Blog with Wordpress.
We already have a blog with Blogger, but Wordpress allows more
freedom to display our news. We love all the templates they have and
things are so easy to change.
Now we can keep you better informed as to where and what our
photographers are up to. At the moment we are concentrating on
Tenerife photos. We intend to fill the gaps in our library and plan
to get around the island to take photos at night as well as during
the day.
